Eco Club Meeting
20.06.12

  • Links with the School Council
    • The eco club and school council eco reps discussed how we can work together to solve the "eco issues" of the school. It sounded like the School Council had been very busy discussing the issues surrounding litter in the canteen. It would be great if we could combine our efforts.
  • A review of our year
    • The Eco Club answered some questionnaires about our experiences in the eco club this year and what the future holds for us. This information will be vital in planning for the future.
  • The Eco Blog
    • Learners will shortly be able to write on the blog themselves and will be tasked with recorded minutes from our meetings to write on our blog! Great work team!!

  • Staff Food Waste being composted
    • The Eco Club were informed that Staff at NHS are now composting. Some of the Eco Club are keen to get involved and to empty the caddy into the compost bin regularly.
  • Yellow fish
    • Yellow Fish is a campaign aimed at the whole community and everyone can get involved. For us, the scheme links in with the science and PSHE curriculum, cross curricular project work and the Eco Schools programme. We plan to choose "Yellow Fish" as a water project which would contribute towards our green flag application.
  • A.O.B
    • Ellie Barnett suggested an idea to combat litter issues in school. She proposed a scheme whereby learners were given warning cards. This was discussed in the Eco Club and we decided that it might need further consideration. Great idea Ellie!
    • Raised beds - We went out and investigated how are seedlings are progressing. The lettuce, strawberries, spring onions and cabbage had survived the dry weather really well! Below are some pictures:
